11:00 am - Presentation of the stallion candidates The stallion candidates of all 7 bloodlines of the 2025 vintage are first presented individually by their breeders in the arena and then stabled together at the Fohlenhof. Followed by the opening of the Almabtriebsfest with music & culinary delicacies 13:00 - Ceremonial arrival of the young Haflinger stallions. After 5 months on the Hengstalm, the time has come for our “young wild ones” to return home to the world center of Haflinger horses for the winter. Each of the young stallions will be led by a Tyrolean Haflinger young breeder on a lead bridle from the alpine pasture in Erl, via Niederndorf, through Ebbs to the Fohlenhof Ebbs. At around 1 p.m., they will ceremoniously arrive at the Fohlenhof decorated with flowers. Each stallion is first presented individually to the visitors in the arena before they are then released together as a herd in the Fohlenhof Arena. No one should miss this impressive sight. It is impressive to see how much the horses have developed over the summer. With the end of the alpine summer, the 2 ½ year old stallions begin to prepare for the stallion licensing, which traditionally takes place on the 1st Saturday in February. Preparing for licensing means that all stallions undergo basic training in riding and driving and have to undergo a so-called breeding aptitude test. All stallions that are licensed can then be used for breeding from the beginning of March, but must successfully complete the stallion performance test within a year. Since 1947, the Haflinger Horse Breeding Association Tyrol has traditionally reared its young stallions exclusively in this natural herd rearing system! This results in particularly well-balanced and healthy Haflinger stallions in a class of their own - Tyrolean Haflinger stallions.
