Animali Notturni (I, A)

Animali Notturni is the new Austro-Italian project by double bassist Marco Stagni. It conjures up the spirits of the night, nestles in the darkest recesses of human nature and oscillates between instinct and reason, excess and minimalism. But what kind of music do they make? In the words of a South Tyrolean living in Leipzig, one could say that it is slow jazz rock with tante emozioni. Or that the musicians are reminiscent of a gang of different animals sneaking through a dark alley in a sleepy Italian town at four in the morning, over smooth stones, towards the fish market to get their hands on some fresh sardines.
