DOMODOSSOLA - REPUBLIC OF LOVE – Günter Lierschof Fri, 29th May – Fri, 10th July 2026 Opening Fri. 29th May 2026 7:00 p.m. Opening: Linda Richter-Lichtblau (Gallery Dialog) Introduction: Andrea Kühbacher Concluding choir: “The World Spirit” with Peter Quehenberger on keyboard An art project based on an idea by Mag.art Günter Lierschof Participating artists: Günter Lierschof Turi Werkner Caspar v.Baudissin Luka Mukawele The Innsbruck artist Günter Lierschof developed the idea for this extraordinary art project several years ago, inspired by a visit to the town of DOMODOSSOLA in Italy. This led to an ongoing project that has now taken a more developed form in the city gallery dia:log Kufstein. Günter Lierschof has already been able to spread this republic in Hamburg, Schwaz, Innsbruck, and Mantua; in Kufstein, he invites three artist colleagues to contribute works to the Republic of Love. “DOMODOSSOLA everywhere,” a utopia and at the same time a place where, whenever and wherever there is a republican constitution, the people are the sovereign. Everywhere people open themselves to wonder, to the diverse realms of fantasies, Domodossola - Republic of Love can become a refuge, a space for hope for the possibility of an empathetic and supportive society of the future. The Republic of Ossola was founded during World War II and managed to resist the fascists for thirty days at the end of World War II in Italian Ossolatal, on the border with Switzerland. Their formulated constitution served as a foundation for the Italian constitution after 1945. Turi Werkner (Vienna) enriches the Ministry of Information with his Excerpt booklets and scores. Luka Mukawele (Mozambique) contributes sound sculptures, echoing another continent's response to the ceramics of Günter Lierschof. Caspar von Baudissin (Hamburg) adds to the media presentation special watercolors created from photos of the artist Günter Lierschof for the book on Domodossola. He has assigned them to individual chapters of Günter Lierschof's travelogue “Balaam's Donkey.” The book will be published for the exhibition.
