DOMODOSSOLA - REPUBLIC OF LOVE – Günter Lierschof Fri, 29th May – Fri, 10th July 2026 Opening Fri. 29th May 2026 7:00 p.m. Opening: Linda Richter-Lichtblau (Gallery Dialog) Introduction: Andrea Kühbacher concluding choir: “The World Spirit” with Peter Quehenberger on keyboard A art project based on an idea by Mag.art Günter Lierschof Participating artists: Günter Lierschof Turi Werkner Caspar v.Baudissin Luka Mukawele The Innsbruck artist Günter Lierschof developed the idea for this extraordinary art project several years ago, inspired by a visit to the city of DOMODOSSOLA in Italy. This evolved into an ongoing project that has now taken a more developed form at the city gallery dia:log Kufstein. Günter Lierschof has already been able to spread this republic in Hamburg, Schwaz, Innsbruck, and Mantua, and in Kufstein, he invites three artist colleagues to contribute works to the Republic of Love. “DOMODOSSOLA everywhere,” a utopia and at the same time a place that exists wherever there is a republican constitution, where the people are sovereign. Wherever people open themselves up to wonder and to the diverse spaces of imagination, Domodossola - Republic of Love can become a refuge, a space for hope for the possibility of an empathetic and solidarity-based society of the future. The Republic Ossola was founded during World War II and was able to resist the fascists for thirty days at the end of World War II in the Italian Ossolatal - on the border with Switzerland. Their formulated constitution formed a basis for the Italian constitution after 1945. Turi Werkner (Vienna) enriches the Ministry of Information with his excerpt notebooks and scores. Luka Mukawele (Mozambique) contributes sound sculptures, echoing another continent with the ceramics of Günter Lierschof. Caspar von Baudissin (Hamburg) contributes special watercolors for media mediation, which were created from photos of the artist Günter Lierschof for the book about Domodossola. He has assigned them to individual chapters of the Domodossola travel report “Balaam's Donkey,” by Günter Lierschof. The book will be published for the exhibition.
