Konzert mit der Band John Garner

Dominik Plangger performs Reinhard Mey’s songs solo on stage—with the author’s own approval. Mey has given his blessing to the project and wishes Plangger all the best for this evening. The singer-songwriter from Vinschgau became known through joint stage performances with Konstantin Wecker and Reinhard Mey—a connection that lends this evening a special sense of authenticity. Plangger has also shared the stage with Gaby Moreno, Pippo Pollina, and Allan Taylor, and his albums “Ansichtshalber” and “Limes” held the No. 1 spot on the German song charts for months. His reputation extends all the way to the U.S., where Woody Guthrie’s daughter Nora praised his German version of “Deportee.” It is precisely this connection to Mey and to his own musical tradition that Plangger now brings to his interpretation of Mey’s songs—with precision and passion. Instead of a mere “best of” set, he combines classics like “Über den Wolken” with lesser-known pieces from Mey’s extensive body of work. The focus here is not on the arrangement, but on the voice alone and the connection with the audience: Plangger captivates with hispowerful singing, wit, and charm. This simplicity creates a sense of immediacy that touches loyal Mey fans and delights everyone who is just discovering his music.
