Rainhard Fendrich - 'Nur ein Wimpernschlag'
Rainhard Fendrich - Just a Blink of an Eye Rainhard Fendrich announces new album Blink of an Eye and tour for 2026.
With the release of his live album "Symphonically in Schönbrunn," Rainhard Fendrich made a comeback in the charts in 2024 and simultaneously announced a new studio album for early 2025.
The album, titled "Blink of an Eye," is being released to celebrate his 45th stage anniversary. The release will be accompanied by an extensive tour titled "45 Years of Rainhard Fendrich - Just a Blink of an Eye".
Fendrich fans can look forward to embarking on a musical journey with him through more than 4 decades – from the beginnings of his career to the new album "Blink of an Eye".
The new album promises an impressive mix of catchy melodies and profound, thoughtful lyrics, sometimes accompanied by a humorous wink. Fendrich is and remains Fendrich - a keen observer and chronicler of his time, focusing lyrically and musically on what is essential: A human life may just be a blink of an eye in the universe. All the more important to dedicate the short time that each individual is granted on Earth to what really matters - a peaceful, mindful coexistence that allows for (neighborly) love and humanity, to draw the strength to face the challenges of our time both in big and small ways.
"Blink of an Eye" is also a very personal retrospective. Fendrich looks back on stages of his life, providing insights into his childhood and youth, and takes stock. Being young again today? No, certainly not. His focus is on the here and now.
In 45 years of career, Rainhard Fendrich has achieved everything there is to achieve, especially in his Austrian homeland. He has released countless number 1 albums, opened the Vienna Festival as the first pop artist, and had the opportunity to perform concerts with a classical symphony orchestra twice – most recently in 2022 at the Ehrenhof of Schönbrunn Palace. Countless of his songs have become evergreens, which now almost possess the character of folk songs, and his song "I Am From Austria" is considered Austria's unofficial national anthem.
Fendrich himself does not see himself as a legend, but simply as a songwriter. 45 years of exceptional career lie behind him. He has nothing left to prove to himself, and this certainty gives him the freedom to dedicate himself entirely and effortlessly to what fulfills him the most: shaping his thoughts into songs and presenting these songs live to an audience.
The tour, which starts in April 2025, will take Rainhard Fendrich through 47 cities in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Fans can look forward to unforgettable concerts, where classics like "Tango Korrupti" and "Weus’d a Herz hast wie a Bergwerk" will also be performed live.
