New e-bike charging stations in the Kufsteinerland region are expanding the cycling infrastructure

Kufsteinerland, Tyrol – With the start of the summer season, new e-bike charging stations have been put into operation in the Kufsteinerland region – one station at Fischergries/Kufstein was already activated last autumn. The stations offer free charging and provide additional infrastructure along busy cycle routes.
The new stations are distributed across central locations throughout the Kufsteinerland region and complement the existing cycle path network with technical infrastructure designed to meet the demands of modern e-bike use.
Each charging station has four lockable lockers, each equipped with two sockets. In addition to charging e-bike batteries, mobile devices such as smartphones can also be charged at the same time. At the same time, the lockers provide space for the secure storage of personal items such as helmets or rucksacks.
The stations are operated via a PIN system that does not require coins. Instructions are displayed directly at the stations. After a maximum of eight hours, the lockers open automatically. Users must bring their own charging cables.
With this initiative, the Tourism Board is responding to the growing importance of e-bike tourism as well as to changing mobility needs in both leisure and everyday travel.
TVB Chairman Georg Hörhager: “With the new e-bike charging stations, we are expanding the existing cycling infrastructure to include a practical and functional element suitable for everyday use. The combination of charging facilities and secure storage addresses specific needs along the routes.”
With the expansion of the cycling infrastructure, the Kufsteinerland region is taking a further step in the ongoing development of the cycling region – both in terms of tourism and regional mobility. The initiative was developed in collaboration with KufsteinMobil and MEGAtimer. The expansion is being carried out in cooperation with the municipalities in the Kufsteinerland region: whilst the tourism association has financed the purchase of the charging stations, the local municipalities are responsible for providing the sites as well as for day-to-day operation and maintenance.
Distribution across the entire region
The locations are spread across several municipalities and key tourist destinations in the Kufsteinerland region:
