Roger Schäli 'North 6' Bergsteiger Multimedia Vortrag
The major project took a total of 18 days. Roger takes viewers on a visually stunning journey to the six great north faces of the Alps and lets them experience his adventures. In the NORTH6 project, Roger Schäli and Simon Gietl climbed the six great north faces of the Alps in just 18 days and cycled from one face to the next. On 17 September 2021, the two began in Italy with the Great Tower in the Comici route (7). It took them only three hours to climb the 500-metre-high face. The second feat followed three days later on Piz Badile in Bergell. Once again, the rope team needed three hours for the 900-metre-high Cassin route (6). On 13 September 2021, their bikes took them to the north face of the Eiger, which they climbed along the Chant du Cygne route (7a). The classic Schmid route (80°, WI4+, M4, 1,200 m) on the north face of the Matterhorn was their next goal, which they achieved in twelve hours despite poor weather conditions. Roger described this ascent as ‘borderline’. On the French Dru, fresh snow accompanied them on the Allain route, from which they diverted to the classic North Couloir (AI 6+, M8, 900 m) due to weather conditions. They spent 17 hours on the mountain. On 24 September 2021, both were able to complete their project on the Grandes Jorasses, which they climbed via the Linceuil direct (70-90°, WI5-6+, 1,100 m).
