PARTNER ACROBATICS First the darkness... then the light. Soon a stage becomes visible – completely covered in straw. From it emerges a figure, as if born from the belly of the earth... With Ancrage, Modou Fata Touré brings a piece full of humanity to the stage – deeply rooted in his homeland of Senegal. Everything here is real, powerful, and full of dedication. The bodies meet, challenge each other, support one another, and explore each other – until they finally find their firm footing. A new space is created, where humanity and nature merge, and a deep calm prevails. Ancrage is a quest for identity, a path back to one's own roots. Based on his personal story, Modou Fata Touré poses the question: How do we live with nature – or even against it? Together with acrobat Ibrahima Camara, he has drawn inspiration from natural materials such as straw, wood, and earth – and developed entirely new circus forms and devices from them. The production shows that contemporary African circus has many faces. After his training in Europe, Touré returned to Africa in 2009 to establish a modern circus in Senegal. SenCirk brings together professionals, offers workshops for street children and women, and utilizes local materials to strengthen African roots. FREI8: For this event, there is a free ticket allocation for visitors under 18 years of age.
