Ensemble Zefiro plays Mozart Breathing history on historical woodwind instruments On Thursday, February 26, 2026, the cultural program of the city of Kufstein presents a special subscription concert: The Ensemble Zefiro brings Mozart's music to life in the Kultur Quartier Kufstein – on historical woodwind instruments and with palpable joy in playing. The program includes the Serenade in c minor as well as wind music from "Le Nozze di Figaro" and "Don Giovanni" – works that once resounded in courtly halls and later conquered the streets. The so-called Harmoniemusik was a small revolution in the 18th century: Eight wind players – two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, and two horns – suddenly made the melodies from great operas audible for everyone. What was once reserved for the nobility and bourgeoisie was now performed in gardens, theaters, and on market squares. This idea of musical accessibility is taken up by Zefiro today: The ensemble plays on historical instruments, allowing Mozart's sound world to resonate authentically and yet surprisingly fresh. Founded in 1989 by the oboists Alfredo Bernardini and Paolo Grazzi, as well as the bassoonist Alberto Grazzi, Zefiro is regarded as a reference ensemble for classical and baroque music with a wind instrumentation. The name derives from Zephyrus, the gentle god of the west winds – a symbol of the breathing, fine sound that has made the ensemble famous worldwide. Tickets are available at www.kultur.kufstein.at, at the city office of Kufstein, at the Kufsteinerland tourism office, and at all Ö-Ticket advance sales points.
